We’ve talked about the end of life of Drupal 8 since it was first announced, and now it is actually here. If your current website still runs on Drupal 8, there is no better time than now to make the upgrade.

What does end of life mean?

Fortunately, it does not mean everything will stop working all of a sudden. However, it will only be a matter of time before something goes wrong. This is because once the end of life is reached, the community no longer maintains the code, bugs are not fixed, vulnerabilities are not identified or removed, compatibility is not updated.

The official Drupal 9 has released. The end of life for Drupal 7 has been extended to November 2022, but Drupal 8 end of life remains to be November 2021. The good news is that upgrading to Drupal 9 from Drupal 8 is a much smoother process than upgrading Drupal 7 to Drupal 8. If you are thinking about upgrading your website to Drupal 9, this article is for you.

Drupal 9 is set to be released on June 3 of 2020. This new release is definitely exciting, but it’s also a little bittersweet, as it signals the fact that end-of-life (or EOL) is near for Drupal 7 and Drupal 8. Both are scheduled for EOL in November of 2021.
